Childcare

Child Watch

Child watch is the YMCA’s “babysitting” service. YMCA members’ children may be checked into the center for a maximum of two hours per visit. Parents must remain in the facility. The cost is $1 per hour and can be purchased through punch cards at the front desk in increments of $2, $5, $10 and $20. Punch cards can be kept on file in the child watch center.

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 4:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m

Child Watch Policies

The Child Watch Staff recently attended a workshop on the laws and suggested best practices of pre-school child care programs by Guilford County.

The following memo is reinforcing some current policies and introducing new policies effective November 1, 2007:

  • In case of an emergency, such as a fire drill or power outage, we will exit all the children with help from additional staff out the front main entrance and over to the grassy area to the far right. If the front entrance is blocked, we will use the pool emergency exits and will be at the shelter.
  • Please be sure we have a complete information card on each of your children.
  • To prevent choking hazards and because we have several children with severe food allergies, we ask that you give your child their snack before or after child watch time. If it is necessary for your child(ren) to have something to eat for medical reasons, please communicate this with the attendant on duty and we will make special arrangements. Bottles and sippy cups are allowed.
  • Please LABEL all bottles and sippy cups.
  • Our child watch area and restroom are cleaned daily with a strong germ killing disinfectant. Please help to further decrease infections and the spread of virus by NOT bringing sick children to our child watch area.
  • If a child continuously cries for 10 or more minutes, the attendant may come for the parent.
  • Please communicate with the child watch staff any concerns or needs. We are here for you and your children.

Thank you for helping us to make our child watch area a safe and happy place!
