YMCA

Strong Kids, Communities, and Excellence

For five years, the Ragsdale YMCA operated as a "non-facility" called the Jamestown Area Family YMCA. Executive Director Kim McKone and Associate Executive Director Terry Matthews used these years to build the YMCA’s programs. The Jamestown Area Family YMCA ran Summer Day Camp, After School programs, youth sports programs and Active Older Adult programs in cooperation with area churches. In May 2004, the YMCA opened our beautiful full-service facility, the Mary Perry Ragsdale Family YMCA.

2010 We Build People Campaign

Helping People Who Need the YMCA

Give A "Bright Beginning" for the New School Year and Waive Your Joining Fee!

The YMCA of Greensboro's Bright Beginnings program helps approximately 500 children with new school clothes, supplies, and a book bag to help children in-need start the year with confidence for success. Volunteer opportunities include shopping with children, making a cash donation to support the shopping trips, and donations of basic school supplies and new book bags. Older teens may volunteer with their parent to help shop with a child. Families with children may volunteer to help stuff book bags with school supplies.

In honor of this program, through August 15th, non-members of the Y can join one of our branches in the Greensboro association and have their joining fee waived with donation of a new book bag. We will also waive the joining fee with a $25 donation to the Bright Beginnings program. Thank you for your support! Let's work together as one community.

NASHVILLE FLOOD RELIEF

The YMCA of Greensboro would like to thank everyone who donated books to the Nashville Flood Relief. In total we raised over 1,500 books for kids who had lost their books in the flood. The YMCA of Greensboro would also like to thank FedEx for their generous donation of shipping the 19 boxes of books for free.
